Dr. Pidgeon, Chief Executive Officer of the Western Veterinary Conference based in Las Vegas, received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1975 from Colorado State University. He is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine and served that organization in a number of elected offices culminating in a term as Chairman of the Board of Regents. Dr. Pidgeon was a member of the faculty at Auburn University in Alabama for 12 years. In 1990, he joined Hill’s Pet Nutrition, Inc. as Associate Director of Veterinary Affairs and was later promoted to Director of the Department. Dr. Pidgeon was named CEO of the Animal Medical Center in New York City in 1996 and was elected President of the Center’s Board of Trustees in 1997. He joined the Western Veterinary Conference in May of 2006 as the Assistant Director and assumed his current role in October, 2007.
Dr. Pidgeon received the Norden Pharmaceuticals Distinguished Professor award in 1984 and 1985. He was named the Auburn University Student Government Association Teacher of the Year for Veterinary Medicine in 1984 and 1990. In 2001, he was recognized as Veterinarian of the Year by the New York City Veterinary Medical Society. The Veterinary Specialists in Private Practice recognized Dr. Pidgeon with its inaugural “Spirit of Excellent” Award in 2005.
Dr. Pidgeon and his wife, Rhoda, share their life with “Cera Tops,” a Jack Russell Terrier.
