Deborah S. Greco is currently a senior research scientist with Nestle Purina PetCare. Her responsibilities include communication of small animal internal medicine, endocrinology and nutritional science to veterinary, breeder and public audiences throughout the world. Dr. Greco received her DVM from the University of California in 1982 and then completed an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Louisiana State University. She became a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine after completing an internal medicine residency and PhD in Physiology and Pharmacology at Texas A&M University. Dr. Greco was a professor of small animal internal medicine at Colorado State University for twelve years and chief of an internal medicine service at the Animal Medical Center for several years before joining Nestle Purina in 2006. Dr. Greco was the recipient of the Pfizer award for research excellence at Colorado State University in 1996 and in 1998 she received the AAFP research award for her work on feline diabetes mellitus. Dr. Greco is a past president of the Society for Comparative Endocrinology, served as ACVIM program chairman for 3 years (1995-1997) and currently is involved with the WSAVA global nutrition initiative.
