  Dr. Don Waldron received his DVM from the University of Missouri in 1974 and then completed an internship at Angell Memorial Animal Hospital in Boston. Following this he worked as a private practitioner for three years. He completed his surgical residency at the University of Florida in 1980. Next, he became an instructor at the University of Florida from 1980-1982. From 1982-1988 he served as an Assistant and Associate Professor of Surgery at Louisiana State University. In 1988, he moved to Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine where he served as a professor of surgery for 20 years. He is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons, examiner for the Clinical Proficiency Examination of the Educational Commission for Foreign Veterinary Graduates and a past Diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners. Dr. Waldron's interests are in soft tissue surgery, especially related to disease affecting the urinary system. He has authored and coauthored more than 60 publications in peer-reviewed journals and textbooks. Dr. Waldron is the current editor and author of the "Surgical Updates" column in Veterinary Forum and is the soft tissue editor of the fifth edition of Current Techniques in Small Animal Surgery (MJ Bojrab). Dr. Waldron is an active speaker in veterinary continuing education and has spoken at local, state, national, and international veterinary meetings. Currently, Dr. Waldron is Chief Veterinary Medical Officer of the Oquendo Center overseeing the veterinary activities at the education center.
